Our Story

We are Coburn Road Maple.

Tapped from our own Sugar and Red Maple trees on our six acre homestead in Wilton, New Hampshire. We are a family owned and operated business with every single item personally crafted by us.

Some notes about our process:
Maple sugaring season is very short (typically about 4-6 weeks in mid February through early April) with the sap rising and falling in our maple trees when the late winter sun starts to warm the trees. Sap runs the best when we see 20 deg. nights followed by 40 deg. days. The fresh maple sap comes from the tree as sugar, minerals and water. Mother Nature determines the sugar content from year to year, but we typically see 1.25-2.00% sugar in our sap. Finished maple syrup contains 67% sugar, so you can imagine how much boiling needs to be done to evaporate all that water from the sap!
This season, we averaged 1.57% sugar in our sap, which yielded a 55:1 gallons of sap to syrup ratio. We boil down our sap into maple syrup in small batches on our own wood-fired evaporator with firewood from our land.
Our maple syrup is 100% pure, with absolutely no additives or preservatives. We bottle our syrup at 185-190 deg. with heat sealed caps. Our syrup can be stored at room temperature until opened. Once opened, please continue to store refrigerated.
We thank you for being a Coburn Road Maple customer. We hope you enjoy our maple syrup as much as we do, and continue as one of our customers for many years.

With Love,

Katie and Bill Raney
